Job Description This position must direct, coordinate, and perform development and production activities related to our network, server, mainframe, and telecommunications system operations. Additionally, the Network Engineer will provide support to the help desk team, assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans, and remain current on new products, services, protocols, and standards. This position will also serve as Information Security Officer and manage the security of all systems. Serve as an Information Technology technical lead on projects and Credit Union planning. This position will require on call duties. Directly Manages Position(s): N/A Indirectly Manages Position(s): Network Administrators Qualifications: Job Education and Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent BS/BA college degree in an information technology discipline. If no degree, 5 years relevant work experience. 7 years progressive experience in a large diverse environment Preferred Education, Certifications & Experience (addition to above): Certifications: CISSP or equivalency, MCITP or equivalency MS/MA college degree in a Computer Science related discipline. VMware certifications Knowledge and Job Performance Requirements: Highly developed critical thinking capability Ability to develop detailed network diagrams Highly developed understanding of telecommunications, networks, printers, personal computers, components, configurations and architecture Ability to develop and manage complex project plans Experience with Intrusion detection software & methods Familiar with AIX operating systems and IBM servers Proven effective communications and interpersonal skills Manage Cisco Hardware, Software, and Voice equipment Understanding Microsoft products: Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Desktop and Server OS VMWare ESX System Administration Dell EqualLogic SAN management Essential Functions: Evaluate existing networks and make recommendations for enhancements and modifications. Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, review existing systems and hardware infrastructure, and document areas of weakness. Obtain and evaluate proposals and make sound business recommendations for improvements. Work with credit union staff to determine needs, define system scope, develop cost analysis, develop project plan and assign responsibilities, and assure timely completion. Assure all aspects of network infrastructures are secure, stable and reliable. Develops and maintains security policies, controls, and compliance with NCUA and FFIEC guidance. Cooperates with active penetration tests, discovers vulnerabilities and performs corrective action. Represents Information Technology in annual outside penetration tests and makes recommendations in regards to findings. Develops and implements security standards, procedures and guidelines for multiple platform system environments. Ensures network security access and protects against unauthorized access, modifications, or destruction. Provide instruction and training for users on information security procedures and their application. Maintains currency of expertise in security-related technologies, trends, issues, and solutions. Investigates security needs, and recommends; plans, implements, tests, and monitors information security improvements. Works with internal and external auditors. Maintain overall Network uptime. Review, oversee and/or perform all tasks necessary to assure network projects are developed, tested, assured of quality, and implemented in accordance with generally accepted best practices. Tests, configures and installs systems, hardware & software; evaluates success of installations Update documentation and/or to assure consistency with application flow, server and network configuration. Train Network Administrators and System Support techs on the use of technology and determine what areas of expertise are needed to maintain technical proficiency for upcoming projects. Individual will be on call 24 hours a day; 7 days a week for all systems which may need attention. Maintain level of technical proficiency. Other duties as assigned.
