Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer to be located in Macon, GA. The Control Systems Engineer will work closely with other staff engineers and is responsible for providing engineering and technical services relating to the Industrial control systems to support the manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, and production processes. Additionally, the Control Systems Engineer will play a critical role in our lean efforts as we continuously strive to improve our processes and reduce waste.

Key Responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer:
:Providing control and instrumentation assistance to the manufacturing team in term of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems
:Identifying and resolving common cause and special cause issues that impact plant reliability and performance
:Investigating manufacturing problems in the plants and recommending corrective actions
:Developing detailed design and specification and budgetary capital estimates for control system projects, and improvements including functional design specification, acceptance testing and commissioning activities
:Supporting and driving local adherence to the global automation and controls vision
:Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded
:Software programming and hardware upgrades to all site control systems including instrumentation, drives, PLC, Scada and HMI systems to replace obsolete equipment, improve performance and drive down total cost of ownership
:Managing all site licensing for Rockwell and Wonderware products
:Ensuring local craftsmen are trained on new and existing control systems throughout the plant by either delivering training personally or coordinating the requirements through the electrical maintenance supervisor/manager
:Actively participating in the global Industrial controls network as plant representative, ensure relevant information and initiatives are disseminated and communicated throughout the rest of the local engineering and operations team
:Participating in Lean efforts, such as kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment
:Providing status updates on project progress and issues
:Providing leadership and technical support to the plant regarding machinery safety systems, in particular the safety related parts of the control system

Required Qualifications for the Control Systems Engineer:
:Bachelors Degree in Controls related field (Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, etc.) with 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment or an Associates Degree in Controls related field (Electrical Engineering Technology, etc.) with 10+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
:Demonstrated Project Management skills
:Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
:PLC and HMI programming experience with Rockwell suite of products
:Motor control including variable speed drives, soft starters and wye delta
:Servo Drives
:DH+, DeviceNet, Modbus and Ethernet communications
:Tension control systems
:Web guiding control sy
