Job Description Job Summary : installs new machines or heavy equipment, and dismantles and installs machines or heavy equipment when changes in the plant layout are required. Primary Duties: 1. Fabricate, install, relocate, repair, and modify heavy steel structures such as monorails, catwalks, bridge cranes, aircraft stands, raceways, scaffolds, jigs and the like from heavy metal angle iron, I-beams, and plate metal. 2. Fabricate and erect portable steel structures such as metal mezzanines, wire cages, booths, and bins. 3. Cut metal beams or sheet metal to desired configuration. Fasten metal parts together using bolts, rivets, or welding processes. 4. Assemble and install pre-fabricated metal structures, such as raised floors and office/shop partitions. 5. Refer to scale specifications on drawings to ascertain number of braces required in given space to support required capacity. 6. Follow engineering blueprints in laying out, measuring, cutting, bending, and drilling parts from metal stock. 7. Coordinate with engineering personnel for substitution of materials or parts (ie bolts, etc.) as required. 8. Use pneumatic hammers, drills, saws and heavy hand tools, cut through concrete floors and digs foundations for structures or equipment. 9. Isolate equipment foundations from the housing building using proper insulation. Fabricate and utilize jigs for the precise placement of lag screws or bolts and braces for the mounting of equipment to the foundation. 10. Install, remove, and/or relocate heavy industrial shop machinery and equipment. Coordinate with shop foreman to arrive at exact location for installation of machinery or equipment. 11. Consider location of obstructions such as drive pulleys, and conveyors, and determine whether building modification will be required, or if there is sufficient room for required installation. 12. Rig machinery furniture, equipment, or structures with ropes or cables for lifting, moving, and/or erecting 13. Operate cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailer (40 ft. flat beds) as needed for installation, removal, and/or relocation of heavy industrial shop machinery and equipment; disassembling and assembling aircraft work stands. 14. Set up and operate all types of machine tools, such as small lathes, milling machines, drill presses, precision grinders, and other portable machine tools to perform onsite milling, grinding, boring, facing, and drilling. Make necessary templates, jigs, and other fixtures required for repair or installation. 15.
